What is Kinesiology
Kinesiology is the science of studying and testing muscles and their movement.
It enables us to evaluate and correct the motor responses of the central nervous system to improve health.
Kinesiology is the science of movement and muscle testing, offering a powerful tool to assess and enhance the motor responses of the central nervous system. By addressing imbalances, it supports improved health and overall well-being.
Kinesiology is a holistic complementary therapy that identifies the root causes of imbalances and restores harmony within the body. Using muscle testing, it evaluates the body’s biochemistry, uncovering physical, chemical, emotional, and energetic stressors. This gentle approach integrates seamlessly with other forms of healthcare, offering a natural way to promote relaxation, balance, and well-being.
Muscle testing is a powerful way to access the body's intricate communication network. By gently testing muscles, we engage a system-wide check, allowing the body to determine whether it's safe to activate the muscle. This process reveals imbalances that might not yet present as symptoms, identifying sub-clinical issues—functional disruptions that haven't developed into pathology. This makes kinesiology a truly preventative approach, addressing imbalances early to support overall health and well-being.
Kinesiology goes beyond strengthening individual muscles. It uses specialized techniques to balance the body’s systems, influencing not just muscles but also organs, energy meridians, mental states, and emotions. Correcting a single imbalance can trigger a positive ripple effect, uplifting the entire system and creating a healthier internal environment.
As one of the most empowering methods of improving health, kinesiology addresses the whole person, providing lasting transformation and comprehensive healing that supports overall well-being.

About Systematic Kinesiology
I practice Systematic Kinesiology as taught by TASK (The Academy of Systematic Kinesiology) with Claire Muller.
Kinesiology was pioneered in 1964 by American chiropractor Dr. George Goodheart, who discovered that muscle testing could provide valuable insights into a patient's health and the needs of the body.
Brian H. Butler, the founder of TASK and Claire's father, began his training in Applied Kinesiology (AK) in 1975 with Dr. Goodheart, who developed the practice in the USA. AK is a system primarily practiced by chiropractors, doctors, and acupuncturists in the United States. Brian also trained with Dr. John Thie, who created "Touch for Health," a version of AK designed to teach individuals how to use muscle testing for personal health and to support their family and friends.
With permission from the founders, Brian Butler introduced AK to the UK under the name Systematic Kinesiology. This term reflects the methodical approach we use to address the body’s imbalances in a reproducible, systematic way.
Systematic Kinesiology uses muscle testing to identify and address imbalances in the body that impact mental, chemical, physical, and energetic well-being. By restoring balance, it helps to reduce stress and enhance overall performance.
Through targeted techniques, Systematic Kinesiology strengthens muscles and optimizes the body’s systems, creating a healthier and more harmonious environment within.
What happens during a session
The initial kinesiology session starts with a discussion to identify the main issues and priorities. After that, the client is invited to lay down on a massage table in comfortable clothing. Then muscle testing is used to identify imbalances in the body, focusing not on symptoms but on a holistic approach that considers the person as a whole. By uncovering these imbalances, we can address the root causes of health challenges and work towards lasting solutions.
Once problem areas are identified, the treatment may include massaging neuro-lymphatic points related to the issues, performing energy and emotional balancing techniques, testing for food sensitivities, and recommending supplements to restore balance across the entire system.
A Root-Cause Approach
Kinesiology goes beyond symptom management, targeting the underlying causes of discomfort and dis-ease. Authentic and reproducible muscle testing is at the core of this approach, rooted in scientific principles like the seven factors of the Intervertebral Foramina. This method allows kinesiologists to access the body's biochemistry, effectively "reading" its electrical responses through specific muscle reactions.
By eliminating guesswork, kinesiology provides clear insights and actionable steps for maintaining the corrections and supporting long-term health.
Kinesiology is a gentle, non-invasive therapy suitable for individuals of all ages, from babies (using a surrogate) to the elderly, making it a safe and effective option for holistic health care.
